If you want to know someone really, really well, really quickly, there are only three things you need to see: the inside of their house, their internet browsing history, and their bucket list. With those three pieces of information, you’ll have a pretty complete concept of a person.
It’s telling, then, that the item at the top of most bucket lists is the same: skydiving. It says a lot about humankind that so many of us strive skyward; that so many of us ache to do something so boundary-pushing and inspirational. I think that speaks well of humankind; don’t you? In fact, a huge percentage of the first-time tandem skydivers who come to visit us at Skydive Tecumseh come here with one thing in mind: to check that item off.
By doing it, of course! There are, it bears mention, a few hot tips that we’d like to pass along in order to make your bucket-rific journey a little better and a little easier. Here goes!
Sounds obvious, right? It’s not! It is about taking the time to set up an actual, factual list to keep you accountable to your hopes and dreams, and aspirations in the face of the hundred-thousand daily tasks that conspire to distract you. We suggest buying a beautiful notebook and leaving a full two-page spread blank for each of the items you intend to check off. That way, you’ll have a gorgeous place to record your journey along the way! If you’re more digital, use an app like BucketList or Bucketlistly.
This might be the most important step! To do this top-rated bucket list item justice, you’ll need to skydive at an established, professional dropzone with a good vibe, great facilities, and a reputation for safety.
One place to start your search is via a dropzone listing maintained by the United States Parachute Association. The USPA is the organization that sets the standards for policy, technology, and training in the skydiving sport and industry. Next, check out their reviews and see what people are saying about them. And finally, you can always call the center to verify any information you’ve found and want to discuss.

When you check off that bucket list item, you’re going to be doing your very first ever skydive. Don’t kid yourself — that’s a big deal! As it is with any of life’s “firsts,” you’ll kick yourself later if you don’t get that beautiful evidence in your hands. We’re not telling you this just to make an extra buck, either: Our customers who make a first-time tandem skydive and don’t get photos and video always regret it. Don’t let your first-time tandem skydive sneak away from you without nabbing the all-important photo and video documentation for your family, your social feed, and your personal archive of achievements!
Let’s go back to the beginning and mention this just one more time: Skydiving tops every bucket list on the planet. It follows that the people around you share that goal, even if it might surprise you that they do! We humbly propose that you take the next logical step and invite them along to join you. It’s a beautiful thing indeed: You could be the catalyst for some truly inspiring personal revolutions in the lives of the people you care about.
What are you waiting for? Get out there and start checking your way down the list!
