There are loads of places to go skydiving in the US. But none of them are as good as Tecumseh!
OK, so we might be a little biased… but seriously, it’s an awesome place to jump! Read on to find out why.
If you think about it, all you need to go skydiving is an airplane and a field.
But it’s not that simple! Skydiving centers are built to give you a great experience of our sport, from the welcoming reception area to the purpose built facilities and the great teams we have in place to guide you through your visit.
There are also some regulations that need to be followed to set up a skydiving drop zone. So while, technically speaking, you could go skydiving pretty much anywhere, in reality, you’ll want to choose a proper skydiving center – of which there are hundreds across the US.
We recommend choosing a USPA affiliated drop zone. The USPA is the United States Parachute Association, the body which oversees our sport and provides guidelines to help mitigate risk and ensure consistency in the way we teach and conduct skydives. Skydive Tecumseh is one such USPA affiliated skydiving center.
It’s an essential part of any skydive. But have you ever thought about what a difference the aircraft makes to your experience?
When choosing where to go skydiving, it’s worth considering the airplane they have. Some skydiving airplanes are faster than others. Some have bench seating, while in others, you sit on the floor. Some accommodate 20 or more people, some as few as two. It all makes a difference to the experience you have.
Here at Tecumseh, we have a King Air, which is renowned as one of the greatest skydiving airplanes of all time. Holding up to 12 jumpers, the King Air can get to the exit altitude within as little as 10 minutes. That’s fast!
It’s really comfortable, too. We’ve got benches for you to sit on, and windows to look out over the incredible views outside.
It’s also one of the only skydiving aircraft to retract its landing gear after takeoff. Ever looked at the airplanes in Top Gun and thought – hey, I want a go in that!? OK, so a King Air isn’t a fighter jet, but its design is so sleek, you’ll think it is!
If you’re going to go skydiving, you might as well do it properly!
While most skydiving centers will take you to 13,000 feet, Skydive Tecumseh has the highest exit altitude in the area, at 18,000 feet.
Now let’s add some context to that. Knowing that the first thousand feet take 10 seconds to complete, and then 5 seconds per thousand feet thereafter, our extra 5,000 feet means an additional 25 seconds in freefall!
If you’re wondering where to go skydiving, choose the skydiving center with the the highest exit altitude to get the best ‘bang for your buck’ – Skydive Tecumseh!
Skydive Tecumseh isn’t just a great place to go skydiving. Oh no! There’s so much going on here, you’ll have plenty to keep you and your family entertained once your day’s jumping is over.
Cascade Falls is one of Jackson, MI’s top attractions. A man made waterfall, it’s known for its spectacular light shows. One to visit in the evening; take a picnic and enjoy a relaxing night as you take in the displays and listen to the music.
The Sandhill Crane vineyards are another local attract worth a visit. A family owned establishment, Sandhill is known for its delicious wines which are lovingly produced in small batches. It’s something of a local delicacy!
If you’re into something a bit more active, check out Epiq, an escape room that will challenge and delight family members of all ages. For more information on things to do in Tecumseh, visit our local attractions guide.
Skydiving for the first time at Skydive Tecumseh was by far one of the greatest experiences of my life. No matter how high maintenance I was before the jump when I was scared, every single jumper employee did everything they could to make my experience unforgettable. I have already recommended here for many of my friends wanting to go with me for their first time on my next round!
