What kind of individual comes to mind when you envision the type of person who skydives? Most imagine a young, male risk-taker. While many people who skydive do, in fact, fit this description, the other types of people who skydive may surprise you!
Skydiving appeals to people of all ages, shapes, genders, ethnicities, nationalities, and professions. At the dropzone on any given Saturday, you are likely to see groups composed of very different people mingling. Within the same chatty assembly, you can find doctors, lawyers, accountants, arborists, bartenders, nurses, yogis, writers, college students, recent high school grads … if you can think of a profession and personality type, there’s a good chance there’s a skydiver present that fits the description.
So, what can all these people possibly have in common? Lean in close. Here is an insider scoop on the skydiving personality type and what skydiving says about you!
Skydiving is not a run-of-the-mill activity, and the novelty of skydiving certainly has its appeal. For many, skydiving is a new and exciting adventure to embark on. Typically, the type of person who skydives likes branching out in order to explore all that the world has to offer. From trying new restaurants to jumping out of a plane, skydivers likes to try new things. After all, variety is the spice of life!
People who skydive are also keenly aware that trying new things is the perfect way to unearth previously undiscovered possibilities. Who knows? Skydiving might just become your new hobby!
Leaving the perceived safety of the mundane is by no means an easy feat, and stepping out of your comfort zone can be utterly terrifying. However, some of the best things life has to offer are waiting just on the other side of your fear. From asking that special someone to spend their life with you or taking that career-changing leap, exceptional potential for happiness is often accompanied by tremendous amounts of fear: the fear of what if; the fear of the unknown.
Likewise, traveling nearly two miles above the earth to exit an aircraft and freefall back down towards the ground can evoke a few fears along the way. Those who have jumped know the benefits they reaped from their own leap, but for those who haven’t yet made a skydive, exiting the aircraft is certain to take them out of their comfort zone. The thing that makes the type of person who skydives so special is that they already know they’ll have to leave their comfort zone, and they go forth anyway.
The type of person who skydives is willing to rise to the occasion by meeting a challenge head-on. It’s easy to shrink away from a challenge, but without discomfort there can be no growth. People who skydive relish challenges because each presents an opportunity to bloom. The difficulties a person faces do not define them. It is their response to the challenge that speaks volumes. Instead of crumbling when faced with a challenge, the type of person who skydives shines!
The pursuit of material goods is a cornerstone of our consumerist culture. Escaping this paradigm isn’t easy, but there are ways to begin to break free. One of these ways is by investing in shared experiences rather than by buying more stuff. The type of person who skydives chooses to “do” over “own.” Through making this choice, the type of person who skydives has discovered that far greater satisfaction is derived from a positive experience than from another frivolous purchase.

I've been here 2 times now and both times have been the experience of a lifetime! I plan on going again next summer as well. When people ask "why jump out of a perfectly good airplane" I reply with "because it's a perfectly good plane to jump out of!!" The people here are amazing and every time someone is looking for a good place, skydive Tecumseh is the only place that I recommend. I also like the fact you can donate the little bears too!!
